Welcome to our Year 4 curriculum page. We believe that children have a right to expect a curriculum which is fun, motivating, interesting and most importantly purposeful.
We think Acre Heads Primary brings something special to every child that walks through our doors – we offer an exciting curriculum experience to all our children. What do we do in Year 4?
Please find below your child’s Year 4 Curriculum Overview which gives an outline of the topics your child will cover in Year 4.
Please find below your child’s termly Knowledge Organisers which contains a summary of the knowledge and key facts Year 4 children will be learning during the year. Children will bring a copy of the organiser home at the start of each term and are encouraged to refer to these organisers throughout their learning. Please help your child investigate and retain their knowledge as they work through their theme.

Thank you to Anna Harvatt from Reckitts, Anna visited Year 4 this afternoon.
The children loved Anna’s communication based activities, sharing messages about new concepts they created. The children learned that that are so many different job roles within STEM and that even some of the global leaders are right on our doorstep.

As part of their science, lesson Year 4 played a game to demonstrate the relationships between producers, predators and prey in food chains.
The children were either playing as a snowshoe hare collecting grass (tennis balls) to take to their burrows (hoops), or a lynx hunting the anowshoe hares by catching their tags.

As part of their hook lesson for Talk4Writing, Year 4 played two traditional Roman games called Rota and Merels. These are games that Roman soldiers would have played in their leisure time.
They also explored the collusseum using the VR headsets.
