Welcome to our Year 6 curriculum page. We believe that children have a right to expect a curriculum which is fun, motivating, interesting and most importantly purposeful.
We think Acre Heads Primary brings something special to every child that walks through our doors – we offer an exciting curriculum experience to all our children. What do we do in Year 6?
Please find below your child’s Year 6 Curriculum Overview which gives an outline of the topics your child will cover in Year 6.
Please find below your child’s termly Knowledge Organisers which contains a summary of the knowledge and key facts Year 6 children will be learning during the year. Children will bring a copy of the organiser home at the start of each term and are encouraged to refer to these organisers throughout their learning. Please help your child investigate and retain their knowledge as they work through their theme.

Year 6 have had a great morning so far, assault course races, volleyball, bouncy castle, ‘axe’ throwing, penalty shoot out and parachute games.

This morning, Year 6 enjoyed a relaxing board games session together. It was lovely to see the children laughing, working as a team and enjoying some friendly competition as they spent quality time with their classmates.

Yesterday, Year 6 put their teamwork, creativity and problem-solving skills to the test during our Team Challenges Day! 🏆
Working in teams, the children designed their own team flags, built spaghetti and marshmallow towers, created marble rollercoasters and took part in a fast-paced drawing relay. Throughout the day, they showed fantastic communication, resilience and determination, encouraging one another and having lots of fun along the way.
A brilliant day full of laughter, teamwork and friendly competition – well done, Year 6! ⭐👏
